What is a Concurrent User License
What is a Concurrent User Licenses?
A concurrent user license allows a limited number of users to access the software at the same time, rather than assigning a license to a specific named individual.
With this model:
-
Any authorised user can log in to the system.
-
The number of users who can use the system simultaneously is limited by the number of purchased licenses.
-
When a user logs out, their license becomes available for another user.
Example
If a site has 10 concurrent licenses, up to 10 users can be logged in at the same time.
If an 11th user attempts to log in, they must wait until one of the active users logs out.
Benefits
-
Flexible access for large teams
-
Lower licensing cost compared with named-user licensing
-
Efficient for shift-based operations where users log in and out throughout the day
This model is commonly used in operational software where many users need occasional access rather than continuous access.
